Ondas Radio

Each trimester at Ondas the English classes write, produce and record an original radio program. This activity is not only fun and collaborative; it also helps to improve pronunciation, grammar, spontaneity, confidence, and overall speaking skills.

  • The first step in this creative process is brainstorming, or coming up with the main idea, subtopics and a format as a class.
  • Next, we will partner up and come up with an outline for each subtopic.
  • Then, partners will work together to write a rough draft, or first attempt at the script.
  • The next step is peer editing. We will correct grammatical and stylistic mistakes as a class in order to improve and perfect the content.
  • After that, we will practice reading aloud, pronunciation and delivery to get our timing down.
  • When we are ready, we will head to the studio and record our radio program, adding sound effects and background music.
  • The final step is listening to the finished product and critiquing our pronunciation and delivery. Listening to our own voices, while strange, helps to improve our communicative skills.
  • Remember, have fun with it! The radio program is a great momento of all your hard work throughout the course.
In the comments section, add the outlines and/or rough drafts you complete with your partner. Then, over the next few classes, we will continue with the following steps of the process.

PS. Did you know that Ondas has it´s very own radio station? Check it out here: Ondas Radio

  2. Scientifics have just found a portal to travel to a parallel world like our but with a different line of history: they had a Nuclear World War 30-40 years ago during the Cold War.

    For these reason they have:
    -Radiation
    -Mutants & “strange” animals
-More development in some technological areas
-Old cities destroyed and some new big ones

We will divide our part in:
-At the beginning we will give context about how is this world.
-We will talk about the work of our explorers. We will interview them and also some of refugees who want to live in our world. They will advise us that some of these mutant are thinking on conquer our world and make us their slaves.

  3. OUTLINE – A MOROCCO STORY – 2 different experiencies:

    • Background music – traditional Moroccan music
ISABEL: Introduction to Morocco: Today, we are going to talk……..
Do you know what other country have both Atlantic and Mediterranean coastlines, and it also has a rugged mountain interior? If your answer is Morocco you are right.
Morocco officially the Kingdom of Morocco,[2] is the most westerly of the North African countries..
Morocco has a population of over 32 million and an area of 446,550 square kilometres (172,410 sq mi). The political capital is Rabat, although the largest city is Casablanca; other major cities include Marrakech, Tangier, Tetouan, Salé, Fes, Agadir, Meknes, Oujda,Kenitra, and Nador. Morocco has a history of independence not shared by its neighbours. Its culture is a blend of Arab, Berber(indigenous African) and also other African and European influences.

Morocco is a constitutional monarchy with an elected parliament. The King of Morocco holds vast executive and legislative powers, especially over the Military as well as foreign and religious affairs.
The main religion is Islam. The official languages are Berber and Arabic. Moroccan Arabic, referred to as Darija, and French are also spoken.

Did you know that although Agriculture accounts for only around 14% of GDP employs 40–45% of the Moroccan working population?

. With a semi-arid climate and an ill-developed irrigation system, it is difficult to assure enough irrigation. Morocco’s economy depends heavily on the weather, a typical characteristic of third-world countries.

Nature is never far away in Morocco. Desert, mountains, valleys and sea - the country has plenty to offer fans of the outdoors!
Hikers of all levels will love walking the Moroccan mountains. Among the temperate peaks of the Rif mountain range, its cliffs jutting out into the Mediterranean make this under-explored region magical.

Today we are introducing two ways of visiting Morocco
The first way and most common is by booking a vacation package. To get to Marocco the fastest option is to get a flight. (sound effect)
To tell us about this kind of trip I am going to introduce our first guess. Please Cesar let us know about your trip..
The second way to discover Morocco is travelling by motor bike
Background music – Born to be will (or similar)?
So Javier – How is the experience of travelling by Motorbike through Morocco?
    …………………………………………….
What did you think about the Moroccan cuisine?
    What about the people?
Please, tell us one anecdote about this travel
And finally, would you recommend it to our listeners? And why?
